Phrase: End up

End up - (Phrasal Verb)

Meaning:

  • To reach or come to a place, condition, or situation that was not planned or expected
  • It's about the conclusion what is really happening at the end. 
  • If you end up doing something or end up in a particular state, you do that thing or get into that state even though you did not originally intend to.


Example Dialogue

A: How was your date with Sarah? Did you take her to the best restaurant in town?

B: It was actually not what I planned. We ended up just ordering pizza and not going to the fancy restaurant.
