Hang on - (Phrasal Verb)

Meaning: If you ask someone to hang on, you ask them to wait or stop what they are doing or saying for a moment.

  • To wait for a short time

             "Hang on a minute - I'll be with you in a moment!"

  • To pause a conversation

            "Hey, can you hang on just a second while I check this message?"

  • Used for saying that you have just realized something or when you're surprised

            "Hang on! That isn’t the dress she was wearing earlier."
