Meaning 1 : turn down (something/someone) 

  • to not accept an offer or request

  • to reject or refuse to consider an offer, a proposal, etc. or the person who makes it

Meaning 2 : turn (something) down

  • to reduce the volume, noise or amount of sound, heat, or light produced by a piece of equipment by pressing a button or moving a switch or controls
Synonyms and related words: decrease the volume, lower down, lower the volume
