"Follow suit"


Meaning

  • To follow someone else's lead in a situation and perform the same actions they have done in the same given situation.
  • If people follow suit, they do the same thing that someone else has just done, especially by following their example.
  • To follow suit means to follow an example set by someone else, to follow someone with actions in kind, to take a cue from someone else in influencing one’s behavior.
