I'd rather + (verb)

I'd is a contraction of the words "I had" or "I would."

When using 'I'd' with the word 'rather' you are suggesting that you would like to do or prefer one thing more than another.

If you say that you would rather do something, you mean that you would prefer to do it. If you say that you would rather not do something, you mean that you do not want to do it.
